HOW IT ALL BEGAN .....

In the 1950's moving from Jamaica were Stedman (Buster) Pearson and his wife Delores. Buster was a talented guitarist whose biggest break happened when he joined Wilson Pickets ( who was about to have his biggest hit entitled "In The Midnight Hour" ) backing group for their 1965 British tour. Buster had also worked with Jimmy Cliff, Desmond Dekker and Dandy Livingstone.

Buster prefered to be a business man rather than appear on televison and started his own record label K&B which helped many young stars.

in 1982 he came up with Pavillion as his new record label, but this name was already registered and instead he opted for "TENT" which would blossom into one of the most successful Independant companies of the 1980's.

In 1983 - 3 young sisters..Doris..(D.o.b)- 8th June-1966..Lorraine..(D.o.b)-10th August-1967..Denise..(D.o.b)-13th June 1968...Heard a demo their father Buster Pearson brought home called Problematic. Wanting to show their father they could sing and meant business they recorded their voices singing it onto a tape and played it to him one night. They rehearsed it and rehearsed it , Buster was totally surprised that they could do it.

Buster was impressed and with Delores (their mother) approval they ushered the two brothers Stedman...(D.o.b)-29th June-1964. Who was away at fashion college and Delroy..(D.o.b)-11th April-1970. "Five star" were born.

Delores once said " I didn't want to end up with 3 rich young ladies and 2 poor guys, I love them all"

On August 10th 1983,they went in to the recording studio to recorded Problematic and Lorraines self-penned "Say Goodbye". In September of 1983 Five star made their very first Televison apearance on a show called "Pebble mill at one"...who incidently were basing that episode about "Youngsters leaving School".

Buster didn't tell the kids that they were going onto Televison until the evening.before the appearance.

"Problematic" was released in October 1983 on Busters own Label "Tentrecords"

After their performance of Say Goodbye and Problematic during the show , they were flooded with calls wanting to know about this new young talented group before they had even finished their performance.

In February 1984 they signed to RCA. Five star stared on the P.A.(Public Appearance) circuit and became the top P.A. act in the country!.....
